On the Trail with David . . . May 2022
With the campaign in full swing, months seem to be flying by, and May was no exception. David started off the month by donating to Feeding Tampa Bay at their Cereal for Summer event. That same night, he attended the monthly Florida Economic Club of Tampa Bay meeting hearing from Senator Jeff Brandes. The National Day of Prayer began with a breakfast at the Carter G. Woodson African American Museum, held by the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Florida. David enjoyed hearing many different prayers and meeting new faces in the community. For lunch, as he has since its inception, David supported the Beth Dillinger Foundation by attending the 13th Annual Value Me Luncheon at the Hilton Carillon Park.
Like almost every month, David attended the Suncoast Tiger Bay Club monthly luncheon. This month he took in a great conversation between JC Pritchett, II, Dr. Tonjua Williams-St. Petersburg College President, and Dr. Martin Tadlock-USF/St Petersburg’s Outgoing Chancellor. They discussed what each bring to the county, how they collaborate, and their future of educating and retaining some great talent for the county. He attended the Women’s Conference of Florida’s Celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month as they hosted a very special guest speaker, South Korean American author Min Jin Lee, author of the New York Times Bestseller “Pachinko,” for an intimate conversation on her award-winning book, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and the impact of the pandemic on the Asian community. David also attended the Red Tent Women’s Initiative hosted by Community Foundation of Tampa which featured the art of Robin Roth-Murphy. David also assisted with the Gulfport Beyond the Beach Cleanup.
Bob Glaser and Phil Price of Smith & Associates Real Estate hosted a lovely Meet & Greet at their Beach Drive location. David also attended the Clearwater Bar Law Day Luncheon, St. Pete Bar Law Day Celebration, and the PFAWL social all in the same day! He had the pleasure of assisting with a very special moot court competition put on by the Youth Development Initiative, enjoyed supporting Pet Pals Shelter and other local businesses at the Paws in Paradise Pet Fashion Show where his dog Boston received a handsome bowtie, mingled with members of the Pinellas Park Chamber during their event hosted at the Seaside Seabird Sanctuary, attended a Rays game with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Pinellas County, stopped by the multi-chamber super mixer at the Bilmar, and tried his hand at music trivia hosted by Big Trophy Trivia at Caledonia Brewing.
David, Amy and David’s mom attend the Kiwanis Club of St. Pete’s Fischer-Carr Scholarship Casino Royale and David and his family attended the Rays-Yankees games. David, with his family and campaign staff and supporters, joined the St. Pete Black History Bike Tour guided by local historian Josette Greene. The tour ended at Chief’s Creole Cafe with more history by owners Mr. And Mrs. Brayboy. David finished off the month with the Honor Our Heroes Memorial Day 5k and by attending the Memorial Day Ceremony at Bay Pines VA. He ended the weekend with one more beach cleanup assisting Treasure Island - Adopt A Beach and Keep Pinellas Beautiful.
